The 2010 Business Plan Competition
In line with the Club’s mission, the Networking Committee has organized an annual Business Plan Competition. The goal of the 20/30 Business Plan Competition is to foster creativity and entrepreneurship within our members, ultimately leading to the launching of new start-ups in Greater Cleveland.
The 20/30 Business Plan Competition is an three-month program designed to move an idea from initial concept towards a developed business plan. Throughout the course of the program, participants utilize educational sessions, mentors, and peer review to refine their ideas. Beginning in March, judging panels narrow the field to two finalists. The two finalists present their ideas head-to-head at the Awards Ceremony on April 13, 2010, where the winner is announced.
Competition organizers take an educational, hands-on approach to promoting new ventures amongst young professionals. The Club hosts whiteboard sessions, workshops, and panel discussions to encourage collaboration and brainstorming amongst the contestants. Sessions are hosted by qualified Club members, or representatives from other supporting organizations. As the competition progresses throughout the year, topics become more specific and tailored to the contestant pool. Examples include courses in Basic Business Plan Writing, Sales, Accounting, Leveraging Technology, etc.
The 20/30 Business Plan Competition is aimed at Cleveland-area entrepreneurs between ages 21 and 40, who either have an idea for a business, or have recently started a new business. The Competition is open to both members and non-members of the Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club. Plans may be submitted by an individual or a team.
Plans should strike a balance between creativity and feasibility. Plans must be an original idea (i.e. no franchise or acquisition models). Interested applicants are encouraged to attend the educational sessions beginning in September.
Members of the 20/30 Executive Board and Competition organizers are not eligible for entry.
