Nomination Rules & Regulations As Stated In Club Rules 

  • For questions/concerns about the responsibilities of each position, please contact General Counsel at generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org. 

  • Candidates must have been actively involved in the Club and be a paid member in good standing. Questions of standing can be directed to treasurer@cleveland2030.org.

  • All terms begin on the date of May board meeting, and conclude on the date of the Club’s annual meeting in the year indicated above (except the President-Elect which is a one-year term concluding 2026, followed by a successive one-year term as President beginning 2026, and concluding on 2027).

  • All candidates must agree to and sign the Statement of Board Expectations before their candidacy is official and follow all Club Rules & Regulations while in Office.

  • For a contested race, or otherwise at the discretion of the Nominating Committee, candidates (except incumbent candidates) must attend an interview with the Nominating Committee during the later weeks of May. Locations, exact dates, and times are TBA.

  • Letters of Intent must be submitted per the instructions below by no later than 11:59 PM ET, Friday May 9th, 2025. LOI’s received after this date may, at the discretion of the Nominating Committee, be deemed ineligible.  Candidates are required (unless otherwise approved by the Nominating Committee) to attend the Club’s Annual Board Meeting in May. If your race is contested, you will be permitted to give a 2-minute presentation followed by Q&A from members in attendance.

Positions Elected by Membership for a Two-Year Term

PRESIDENT: The role of the President is to be the leader and manager for the general operations of the Club. The President shall act as a project manager and regularly contribute to the event planning, operational Club processes and overall daily functionality of the Club. In addition, the President works with the Board to facilitate fiduciary responsibility. The President will attend the majority of the Club events and meetings while acting as an ambassador for the Club. 

PRESIDENT-ELECT: The main role of the President-Elect is to learn the operation of all aspects of the Club and the assist in the management of the organization. This includes oversight of the various committees and directors as well as the Web site and communications functions. The position of PE is a dynamic position and changes slightly from year to year. In general, though, the PE should: Maintain an overtly non-partisan and agnostic culture within the Club; work with President to thoroughly understand overall leadership requirements of the Executive Board; set board policy on overall issues; enforce Board policies alongside the President; offer advice and guidance to fellow board members on a case by case basis; and maintain frequent communication with community leaders and also other Young Professional Group leaders in and around Greater Cleveland. After a one-year term as President-Elect, the person automatically assumes a one-year term as President. For more information, contact  generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org. 

SECRETARY: The Club’s Secretary is the steward of the Club. They are responsible for the management of Club records, coordinating Board activities, and managing inquiries and routing various requests to the appropriate Director(s). For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org.

TREASURER: The Treasurer is responsible for the Club's finances. This person handles budgeting, accounts receivable/payables, disbursements, and issuing of financial statements on a periodic basis. The Treasurer is also responsible for reporting profit and loss performance to each director on a monthly basis. For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org

GENERAL COUNSEL: The General Counsel advises the Board on a wide array of topics  on issues, including reviewing contracts and staying up to date on all necessary laws. The General Counsel shall secure and maintain appropriate insurance of the Club and review all sponsorship agreements. For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org

SOCIAL DIRECTOR: The Social Director is responsible for the monthly Around Town events, at a minimum 6-10 additional social events/year, and general support as a contributing Board member to other areas of the Club. The monthly Around Town, one of the Club’s flagship regular events, is held on the first Thursday of every month. Marquee events are generally held Wednesday through Saturday and represent a Social event centered on a relevant theme.  For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org.

SPONSORSHIP DIRECTOR: The Sponsorship Director will work with the President and President-Elect to promote and secure corporate memberships to satisfy predetermined objectives. Additionally, the Director will  oversee and manage sponsorship contracts for events and track sponsor fulfillment to ensure all items are successfully completed. For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org.

PHILANTHROPY DIRECTOR: The Philanthropy Director is responsible for the annual Stuff the Stocking charity event, coordinating 4-6 volunteer events per year, selecting the non-profit speakers for Around Towns and general support as a contributing Board member to other areas of the Club. EDUCATION DIRECTOR: Education focuses on the professional and personal growth of individual members. The Education Director is responsible for hosting 4-6 educational events per year and general support as a contributing Board member to other areas of the Club. For more information, contact  generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org. 

NETWORKING DIRECTOR: Networking works to bring people together for the advancement of their careers and businesses. The Networking Director is responsible for managing the weekly Networking breakfasts, the monthly CEO dinners, and hosting 3-4 additional networking events per year, as well as general support as a contributing Board member to other areas of the Club. For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org.

Positions Appointed by Board for a One-Year Term

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTORS (TWO POSITIONS): Marketing & Communications is the public face of the Club. The Marketing & Communications Directors are responsible for the development and management of the Club’s brand, public messaging, marketing program, public relations and social media. The Directors work with outside vendors, marketing, printing, etc.to develop collateral materials, brochures, social media pages, etc. when needed. The Marketing & Communications Directors work with the President and President-Elect on all issues relating to how the Club is positioned in the “market place”. They work with individual Directors on the promotion of various committee events and programs. These positions are also responsible for communications in support of membership initiatives, both corporate and individual, as well as for sponsorships. For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org.

TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR: The Technology Director is the person who manages and maintains the Club’s website. This person is responsible for the programming of the site and operates as a project manager on Club-wide and site-wide technology updates and improvements. For more information, contact generalcounsel@cleveland2030.org

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR: The Membership Director serves a critical role for the Club. They are the customer service manager for the organization.
